Wide Receiver Touchdown Rate
July 7, 2012 | Chet
Touchdowns per receptions and targets are a couple of my favorite stats. Mainly because big fluctuations usually mean something went badly or awesomely. Take Austin Collie and Jordy Nelson. Please! Hah. Anyway, Collie had 96 targets vs. Nelson’s 95 and they had opposite seasons, to say the very least. I’m not even going to go into how opposite they are because that’s just mean to Austin Collie. Well, maybe a little.
So yeah, Collie’s TD to reception rate was 54/1 and his TD to target rate was 96/1 while in previous seasons it was 10.8/1 and 16.1/1. So let’s take a look at who his quarterback was last season. Oh wait, NO! Aggggh, my eyes!!
With Peyton Manning gone, Collie got beat down hard with the ugly QB stick, but now with numero uno draft pick Andrew (Better TD Rate) Luck we should see an improvement to or at least close to, his average.
Below I have highlighted some players I believe will improve to their average or fall back down to their average. You can use your eyeballs to look at them.
