Welcome to Week 8 of The Fake Football DFS Cheat Sheet!

With the help of our resident DFS Gurus Chet Gresham, Ian Goldsmith and Doug Shain, we have put together a comprehensive NFL DFS Cheat Sheet with matchup stats, analysis, picks, sample lineups and lineup configuration advice. We have picks for FanDuel, Draftkings, and Fantasy Aces, and with their differing settings, the picks, stats and analysis will help you on even more sites than just those three. And with a week between games we will update our picks and analysis as the week progresses. You will receive your Cheat Sheet on Wednesday, in time for the Thursday night games and then we will update the sheet on Sunday Mornings to make sure you don’t miss any breaking news.

And even though we will have more info, more stats, more picks and just more everything in our NFL sheets, we will not be raising the price. Each sheet will remain $1.99 each just like our baseball and basketball sheets. One Month ($6.99) And as a subscriber you will receive an email as soon as the new Cheat Sheet is posted on Wednesday of each week and then an update on Sunday mornings.

Injury Report:

Vincent Jackson, Louis Murphy and Austin Seferian-Jenkins are all out, which puts Mike Evans and Donteea Dye as this week’s starters. Even with a tough matchup with Desmond Trufant, Evans will see plenty of targets and should be able to take advantage of enough to be worthwhile this week, Dye is a decent punt option, but for GPPs only.

With Carlos Hyde out, Reggie Bush will get the start, but his injury history and matchup against the Rams makes him a risky play.

Dez Bryant should play this week, but will most likely be eased back in against a tough defense. He’s not a recommended play.

Jeremy Maclin will be a full go and has a good matchup. He’s usable in DFS this week.

Alfred Blue will get the first shot at replacing Arian Foster, but he’ll need to do well quickly to hold off Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes from getting a big portion of work.

Darren McFadden should be the every-down back this week with Randle out. He’s worth a punt play due to projected touches, even with the tough matchup.

Andre Ellington will get more touches this week, which means David Johnson is pretty much useless now, but Chris Johnson remains the lead back in a good matchup.

John Brown’s status this week is up in the air, but the good news is that they play in Cleveland in the early game so we’ll know before lineups lock. If he doesn’t go, Michael Floyd gets a nice bump.

James Starks is questionable. With the late game there’s no reason to mess with either Starks or Lacy in DFS, especially with the tough matchup.

Eric Decker looks like he’ll play, which helps Ryan Fitzpatrick’s upside.

Steve Smith is listed as probable even though he tweaked his knee Thursday. He should be good to go in a good matchup, which is good.

Antonio Gates is listed as questionable, but he looks to be more doubtful with his sprained MCL. Ladarius Green should be good for a DFS start.

Odell Beckham Jr. is probable after practicing all week. He should be a full go in a good matchup.

Zach Mettenberger will get the start against Houston who just gave up a billion points to Ryan Tannehill in the first half.

Josh McCown is a game time decision. Either way the Cardinals are too good a defense to play him if he does go.

Cash LU 1

Cash Lineup: I love the Rivers/Allen combo this week. The Ravens are giving up chunks of yardage and touchdowns to opposing wide receivers and Allen is being targeted a ton. If Gates is out, he will get even more targets, but either way I think this duo comes up big. Gurley will again be highly owned, but he gets another nice matchup and his usage is just too good not to like in cash lineups again. The Titans are worse against No. 2 receivers and Washington will continue to see plenty of targets, especially with Shorts and Foster out. Diggs gets a Bears pass defense that leaks touchdowns. I like Olsen, Eifert, ASJ, Witten and Green this week, but Olsen remains my safest cash game play where he fits. The Rams are also going to be heavily owned and for good reason. At home against Kap.

Thursday GPP

Thursday GPP

Thursday GPP: Brady has the most upside of any QB going, so I’m going to place him in this GPP with Edelman. Lynch should get plenty of chances against the Cassel led Cowboys to run the ball. JStew has seen a big bump in work since the bye and has looked good doing so. Bryant has probably the highest upside of any receiver going on Sunday and he’ll be in most of my GPPs. Marvin Jones is another high upside play, especially for his price. He’s a little risky for cash lineups, but he gets a great matchup in what should be a high scoring game. Eifert is my tight end with the most upside this week and I want to picot from the Rams here to go with Seattle against Cassel.

Sunday Only 50/50

Sunday Only 50/50

Sunday Only 50/50:

I still feel good about Rivers as a safe cash game play, with Allen stacked with him. Forsett has too good of a matchup and when you add in his price he’s hard not to play.

Sunday 1pm GPP

Sunday 1pm GPP

Sunday 1PM GPP:

Roethlisberger and Bryant are two of my favorite GPP plays this week along with Marvin Jones. Watson has some sneaky upside against the Giants poor tight end defense. I like Freeman’s upside better than his safety this week, so I’m looking at using him in GPPs.

WK 8 DK Update GPP

DraftKings Lineup Configurations

Thursday GPP

My hope is that a lot of people go big on Thursday players. This is one of the few cases where there are actually some decent plays that will entice the general public to go heavy here. I’m going to go the completely opposite direction and fade the game entirely. There are three QB’s that stand out to me for a GPP (Stafford, Dalton, Rivers) and I want the guy who I think will have the lowest ownership (Stafford). Rostering Stafford gives us a great opportunity to double stack him with Meagtron and Ebron for a very reasonable price. This allows me to go high end at RB (Bell) and WR (Julio) with two mega-stars that have good matchups. My other three skill position players are Jonathan Stewart (anyone can run on Indy), Stefon Diggs (WR1 production at WR3 cost), and Alfred Blue (should be high owned but you can’t be $3.5k for a starting RB). The Rams are actually priced correctly this week (they were well underpriced at $2.4k last week) but they should pay off just the same.

Sunday 50/50

As always I’ll stress that cash games are all about safe, safe, safe. There’s no QB right now safer than Philip Rivers. The Chargers defense is bad so he’s going to have to throw a lot. It also helps that SD has no run game to speak of either. Also, Baltimore’s pass D is atrocious. I’m going to pair Rivers up with both Ladarius Green and Keenan Allen (something I don’t normally do in a cash game) because of the aforementioned reasons. Also in that game I’m going to put Steve Smith in my lineup against that suspect Chargers D. Gurley is the hottest RB in football and he’s got another good matchup against the 49ers. Lynch should be able to run all over Dallas. Both of these guys get the majority of carries for their teams and that’s very appealing in a cash game. That being said, lead back Alfred Blue for $3.5k will be hard to keep out of my cash lineups as well. Alshon Jeffery proved in his last game that when he’s playing he’s clearly the main guy in the Chicago passing game and he’s priced like a WR2. The Rams D has the best matchup on the board so they were an easy play for cash.

Sunday GPP

I’ve been really into double stacking my QB with two pass catchers and this lineup is no different.   Andy Dalton is one of the top QB’s in points per game this year and the Steelers defense is very bad. For this reason I’m going to go with both AJ Green and Marvin Jones at WR. They are both priced well enough that I can still load up elsewhere. That loading up includes Antonio Brown (whether it be Landry Jones or Big Ben, he’s back and he’s cheap), Mark Ingram (heating up and the Giants run D just got thrashed), and Marshawn Lynch (the Cowboys run D has been bad all year).   I want some exposure in that DET passing game and Ebron is quickly becoming a favorite target of Matthew Stafford. Doug Martin has gone for three straight 100 yard games and he could be in line for much of the same against the Falcons suspect run D. His ability to catch passes helps as well. I’m going a little off the grid at defense and throwing the Raiders out there. The Jets are due for a clunker and this is the type of game where I could see it happening. Even if the Raiders stink up the joint, they only cost $2.2k and shouldn’t ruin your day.

My top QB of the week is Philip Rivers and I’m going to couple him with Ladarius Green, who has become a fairly reliable target even with Antonio Gates in the lineup (which he probably won’t be this week). Ladarius is a pretty inexpensive option and I’ve paired him with a few other HuLo plays in the New York Jets defense and Michael Floyd (who becomes a great option if John Brown sits this week out, which I expect him to be). These values allowed me to go pretty big at both RB and WR. I love the upside of Justin Forsett against a terrible Chargers defense. He should be able to hurt them both on the ground and through the air. The floor is really high here. The Cowboys are not a good run defense, so I expect to see Lynch get fed and produce over 100 yards and a score. All three of my WR are the top options for their offenses and have matchups that can be exploited. They are all large men which make them big targets in the red zone. Red zone targets equal multiple TD upside. I was very surprised that I was able to fit all the firepower I did into this lineup.

FantasyAces Lineup Configurations

Thursday GPP

I am generally not a fan of playing Thursday players, but Brady makes for an exception. He is playing on an entirely different level right now. While TDs are great, FA is all about yardage (1 FP for 20 yards as opposed to the usual 1 FP/25), which Brady should have in droves. While Miami looks like an entirely different team since the coaching switch, I have no faith in their defense stopping Mr. NFL Vogue. A lot of the other players are the same as the ones outlines below, which has forced my hand in going cheaper at the 2nd QB slot. I’ve put Winston in here. While I think he’s due for at least a couple of turnovers, the yardage will be there in what should be a game in which the Bucs are playing almost exclusively from behind. The game sets up for this. Unfortunately, Vincent Jackson is out, which removes a legit receiving option. Because of this, the turnover incidents could increase with him forcing the ball to Evans. Let’s cross our fingers that ASJ will be back this week and can relieve some of that pressure.

Sunday 50/50

In cash games, I’m stacking two QBs from the same game: Philip Rivers and Joe Flacco. Rivers has been on fire – from a fantasy standpoint – all year and is on pace to break the record for passing yards in season. While I’m a little less confident in Flacco, my uncertainty has been lessened by the over/under of 50. This will be a high scoring affair, and both teams will take to the air often. In fact, I’m stack a favorite receiver of each QB: Steve Smith (who does not seem human) and Ladarius Green, who is a solid TE play even if Gates comes back, which is very iffy at this point.

The three RBs I’ve decided to use here are Doug Martin, Devonta Freeman and Chris Johnson. You may be asking, “Where’s Gurley?” That’s a fair point…This lineup is just to show what you can do this week without him in cash games (I’ve added him to my GPP lineup). Martin has been on fire and faces an Atlanta defense than cannot stop opposing RBs. Ditto for Chris Johnson, who faces a Cleveland team that is giving up more than 150 rushing yards per game. Ouch. Freeman’s success will be led by his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He’ll run for his fair share, too, but I expect a heavier dose of him through the air than we saw last week. Next to Steve Smith, I’ve rostered Diggs yet again. Diggs has quickly become the #1 WR in Minnesota, and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Eifert takes up the last flex spot in a game against the Steelers who rank in the bottom five against opposing TEs. I see that game being very high scoring. At defense, let’s not overthink it…St. Louis is at home against San Francisco. Enough said.

Sunday GPP

There are just a few changes here, but they are noticeable. I’ve moved away from Freeman to the aforementioned Gurley. San Francisco has been giving up big yardage to opposing backs in recent weeks. We just saw Lynch tear through their defensive line en route to his first 100+ yard game of the season. I’ve moved off of Rivers to Newton, whose running ability I love this week against Indy, who struggled mightily against the New Orleans run game last week at home. It’s for that same reason that I love an underpriced Jonathan Stewart at home this week against the Colts. He has a chance to surpass 100 yards and grab a couple of TDs….unless Tolbert plays the thief again. Alas, that is why Stewart is here instead of in the cash games. As the week moves on, I may move from Newton and look more to a player like Andy Dalton or Ben Roethlisberger, who have huge upside in this week’s divisional matchup. I’ll have more on this on Saturday in the update.

As the week has progressed, the more I’ve grown enamored with the Bengals’ matchup against the Steelers. This lineup uses Dalton, Jones and Eifert in an attempt go get a big piece of that AFC North divisional matchup pie (yum!). I love Steve Smith this week against San Diego in what should also be a shootout, which is why I continue to use Ladarius Green (it looks like Gates may very well miss his second game in a row).

A very simple, but good start to DFS research is to look at the over/unders and odds. Obviously you want your players in games where Vegas believes the game will be high scoring and on winning teams, while your defenses should come from games they believe will be low scoring.
