Check back  Saturday for updated lineups/analysis.

Sunday Morning Update:

Jeremy Maclin is out. Albert Wilson could be a decent cheap play and Kelce could see some extra work.

Dion Lewis is out. James White should get his work and be worth a GPP play.

Matt Jones should handle more work than usual this week. He is also worth a GPP play.

Stefon Diggs is officially a starter. He’s a good play today.

Injury Report:

Good news for Jeremy Maclin backers, he’s passed his concussion test and practiced on Friday. They’ll see how responds on Saturday, but things are looking better for him.

Antonio Gates has a sprained MCL, but is still a possibility to play Sunday. This takes him out of the DFS equation and puts Ladarius Green back into it. I’, crossing my fingers we get more information sooner rather than later.

John Brown hurt his hamstring again on Thursday and didn’t practice on Friday. He’ll most likely sit or be limited, so Michael Floyd gets nice big boost. UPDATE: Brown says he will be a full go.

Adrian Peterson has been downgraded to questionable with an illness. Unless he gets worse, he should be able to go.

Dez Bryant was cutting at full speed this week in practice, but will not play this week. Hopefully he’ll be able to go next week against the Seahawks.

Joseph Randle will most likely get the start this week against the Giants, while Christine Michael will get a few more opportunities. In the end Darren McFadden could lead the way as the passing down back. This is a situation to avoid, except maybe McFadden in PPR.

Chris Thompson is out, which will give Matt Jones some more work as the third-down back. Alfred Morris will most-likely get the lead back role again, but Jones could out touch him this week.

Dion Lewis was limited by his abdomen injury in practice this week, but will be a go against the Jets. This game will call for many quick passes against the Jets pass rush/blitzes. Lewis should be able to fill up the stat sheet,  especially in PPR leagues.

Brandon LaFell will be activated this week. It’s hard to know if he’ll be on a snap count or not, but his presence could hurt Danny Amendola’s upside.

UPDATED Sunday Cash Lineup 1

Update Sunday Cash 1: Antonio gates may still play, but I’m going to play it safe and leave him out. I like Delanie Walker as a pivot. Rivers, Gurley, Freeman are all solid cash lineup players. I’ve also added Brandon Marshall, who has been one of the safest receivers this season and should see plenty of targets as the Jets will need to keep up with the Pats. Willie Snead looks like the best play for the Saints in the highest over/under of the week. I’ve also moved toward the Rams as a nice play at home against the Browns. I like what the Browns have done this season offensively, but the Rams have put up decent numbers on the road in Arizona and Green Bay, two offenses that are nearly impossible to put up big numbers against.

Sunday Cash Lineup 2

Sunday Cash Lineup 2

Sunday Cash Lineup 2: Palmer is probably my favorite cash QB based on the Ravens matchup. I’m afraid to play John Brown, but he should play and still help the offense. Gurley and Freeman are the best cash game plays still. It’s really tough to go away from them in cash. Floyd got a lot of wrok last week and is worth a play at his price even if Brown plays at 100%. And if he doesn’t, Floyd gets a bump. Hopkins continues to do what he does. Witten isn’t my favorite play, but with Gates’ status up in the air, Witten feels like a safe start as Cassel’s safety blanket against the Giants poor  tight end defense.

Thur/Sun GPP

Thur/Sun GPP

GPP Update: With the GPP, I’m okay with keeping John Brown. He says he’ll be good to go. My pivot for him would be Moncrief.

Thur/Sun GPP: Jones is probably my favorite GPP play. He allows Nuk, Martavis, Brown, and Kelce, all super upsidey plays. While also giving us Gurley and Freeman. Jones of course is the crux of this lineup, but if he can just have an average game, he’ll be worth his price and get you moving in GPPs.

Early (London) Game Cash

Early (London) Game Cash

Early (London) Game Cash: I like McCoy more and more this week, but of course he plays in the early game in London. I decided to make a cash lineup with Shady. I also went with Gronk here, while going with value wide receivers. Andrew Luck has one the highest upsides this week and loves targeting Moncrief.

DraftKings Lineup Configurations

Thursday GPP

Andrew Luck looked really good this past Sunday night against New England and gets an equally juicy matchup this weekend against New Orleans. Even in a win last week the Saints still gave up a good game to Matt Ryan. Luck’s price is still down a bit so I’m going to take advantage and use that money elsewhere. I want to go really solid at RB, but also not spend a ton. That’s where Ivory, McCoy, and Gurley come into play. All 3 are much less expensive than their production and matchup would dictate and all are lead backs for their teams. I love when I have a back that doesn’t have to share carries. I was shocked that I was able to fit in two high prices WR but as you can see we’ve got both Antonio Brown and Calvin Johnson in the lineup. Brown is playing the worst pass defense in the league and Megatron is just starting to heat up. On the other side of the game from Calvin is Stefon Diggs. He’s quickly becoming a favorite target for Teddy Bridgewater and is a huge upside play for a small price. I’ve got Delanie Walker in at TE because he continues to put up solid games and his price never goes up. He’s a sure bet to hit value, if not exceed it. On defense I’m going with some upside in the Saint Louis Rams. They haven’t played up to expectations yet this year but coming off a bye is a perfect time for them to get rolling (look what Miami did last week). Their matchup is outstanding and they are one of the cheapest defenses on the board. They are a chance worth taking for that price.

Sunday 50/50

As I do every week, I’ll remind you that we want to be as safe as we can be with our cash game lineup (high floor in cash, high ceiling in GPP). We don’t need to win the league; just beat half the field. My picks are really chalky this week but I believe they are going to put up more than enough to make the cash line in a 50/50 game. Carson Palmer is easily the top play at QB this week against a Ravens D that just got torched by Colin Kaepernick. I’m pairing him and Fitzgerald to give myself a stack I can count on to have a high floor. At RB I’m going with the hottest player in football, Devonta Freeman, who is still priced fairly. His matchup is just fine and he should be good for his usual 20+ points. Todd Gurley and Doug Martin have strong matchups, are both hot, and are very inexpensive. At WR I’m looking for good matchups Martavis Bryant has the best one on the board against a weak KC defense. He’s so inexpensive that he’s essentially a cash game must play. My 3rd WR is going to be Travis Benjamin who has gone from long-ball specialist to target machine in Cleveland. I don’t love the matchup but McCown looks his way often and 5+ catches is basically a lock. Antonio Gates is going to be owned by everyone but he should put up a good game against the Raiders, who can’t cover the TE at all. The Giants are not going to be a widely owned defense but I think they could put up a huge game against Matt Cassel making his first start for the Dallas Cowboys.

Sunday GPP

My Sunday GPP lineup is going to look a lot different than my Thursday one because there are certain players who will have a higher ownership percentage on Sunday than on Thursday (Luck, McCoy, Gurley) that I’m going to want to avoid for some more HuLo (High upside, Low ownership) plays. Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of the best fantasy QB’s that nobody is talking about. He’s facing an overrated Patriots defense that can give up a lot of points. I’m going to pair him with Marshall and hope that this is an underplayed stack. I’m going to go in the same vein with Martin and Miller, both of whom have very good matchups. Martin looks like the guy we thought he was after his rookie year and is facing a Washington team that’s been run on heavily the last few weeks (by Freeman and Ivory). Getting him under $5k is awesome considering the monster game he had his last time out. Miller looks like he’s finally going to get used properly under new coach Dan Campbell. At $4.6k he doesn’t need to do a whole lot to pay off his cost. I’m going go with two WR from the Cardinals. I think that Palmer is the chalk play at QB this week, so I want to get off that high ownership percentage, but I’ll still get a lot of his points with his two main weapons. Combining them with Antonio Brown (against the worst pass defense in the league) gives me a really high ceiling at WR. One of the best bets this year is playing a TE against Raiders but I’m going to go a little sneaky here and take Ladarius Green (still a big part of the Chargers offense) while the rest of the world jumps on Gates. At $2.9k you don’t need a monster game to make out big. On defense I’m going with the best play on the board in the Arizona Cardinals.

Antonio Brown was under 5% owned on Thursday slates, while Martavis Bryant was over 30% owned. This has moved me well off Bryant and firmly on to Brown. I don’t care who the QB is for Pittsburgh, the Chiefs have a terrible pass D and Brown’s price is now a value. Landry Jones targeted him 4 times last week and is probably better equipped to get him the ball than Michael Vick was anyway. The move to Brown wasn’t my only shift in thinking since posting my sample lineups earlier this week. I’m also on Devonta Freeman now with a great matchup in Tennessee as well as completely shifting my faith over to Ladarius Green whether Antonio Gates plays or not. I’m going to go ahead and fade top QBs Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, and Andrew Luck and ride Philip Rivers for a 2nd week in a row. He’s feeling it right now. My 2nd RB will be the highest owned player of the week, Todd Gurley, but sometimes chalk is the way to go when the price is right. At WR I’m going back to Megatron in a good matchup, Michael Floyd with John Brown hurting, and Donte Moncrief since he’s caught a TD in every game that Andrew Luck has played this year. I’m going to try to be smart with my defense and just take the best on the board in Arizona against a struggling Baltimore offense.

FantasyAces Lineup Configurations

Thursday GPP

Seattle/San Francisco. Ugh. I’m not touching this game. Feel free if you want, but this has unpredictability all over it. Seattle’s D is probably in play here, but I’m avoiding them for a cheap Washington team at a much cheaper price point. At QB/WR, I’m going with two high upside pairings in Ryan Fitzpatrick/Eric Decker and Landry Jones/Martavis Bryant. Fitzy has quietly – once again – put together a decent fantasy season. Decker has scored in every game he’s played and this has all the makings of a play-from-behind game, which will lead to a lot of passing/receiving yards and chances for scores. If Big Ben plays, then Landry is out the window, but throwing against the KC defense is too good a matchup to pass by. Connecting with Bryant twice for such huge numbers may not happen again, but it’s worth a risk pairing the two in large tournaments. This lineup is RB heavy. You pass on Devonta at your own risk at this point. I don’t think a Tennessee team that Lamar Miller just torched is where we stop using him.

Todd Gurley gets a pathetic Browns run defense and Ingram has a fantastic matchup against Indy; the Patriots finally showed how to exploit the Colts’ run defense. This has 60 total points all over it…stacking Colts and Saints is a great plan this week. Lamar Miller was a staple of all of my teams last week and will be once again this week before his price skyrockets. I love the new attitude in Miami. Run. Run. RUN!! Washington’s underrated D gets a nice matchup at home against the rookie Winston. I like the matchup, but the price point makes them look even more attractive to use.

Sunday 50/50

Targets. Targets. Targets. Hopkins is a must on any cash team and I’ve paired him with Hoyer, who has been incredibly solid since taking the reins back over from Ryan Mallett. Freeman and Gurley are staples here. In addition to Antonio Gates, I’ve added another TE in Jordan Cameron. Former TE Coach and now Head Coach Dan Campbell actually realizes that he has one of the better TEs in the league. What a surprise that he actually decided to use him, unlike his predecessor! Seriously, what the hell was wrong with Philbin? Ugh. But I digress…..John Brown is getting close to being a must play. He has 28 targets in the past three weeks and has finally solidified himself as Palmer’s 1B to Fitzgerald’s 1A. The only worry is that the Cards go up by 28 at the half. Still, I like his chances to hit value.

Sunday GPP

There are several similar faces here, so I won’t belabor and drone on…So, how about a different high upside stack? Look no further than Drew Brees/Willie Snead. FantasyAces gives 1 point for every 20 yards, not 25 like on every other site. This is an important distinction. You want QBs who will throw for a lot of yards…The Colts/Saints matchup has points galore written all over it. I think the Saints will be playing catchup; Brees could easily flirt with 400 yards here. People will be off Snead after last week’s mediocre output, but the matchup is excellent this week. He’ll be targeted heavily again. The other big switch is Christine Michael, the new Cowboy who should get the start this week against the Giants, who just let Murray run for over 100 yards. While I’m not using him in cash games – at all – he’s an intriguing deep GPP play who will get his day in the sun this week.

Well, there have definitely been a few big shifts in my lineup for Sunday. With all of the question marks surrounding Antonio Gates’ health, I have to move off of him at TE. Instead, I’m opting for his teammate Ladarius Green. Even if Gates ends up playing, Green is a very viable option against a pathetic Oakland TE defense. As I mentioned above, on FantasyAces we aim for QBs whom we think will have a high amount of passing yardage. With Mariota on the shelf, this leads to a perfect opportunity to roster Mettenberger. The Titans will likely be down early and this has all the signs of a game in which he will be passing nonstop in the second half. I’ve paired him here with Dorial Green-Beckham. This is a boom-or-bust pairing if there ever was one, but I’m all aboard it in big tournaments. I even think Justin Hunter could be relevant this week.

The cheap QB/WR stack has allowed me to roster Freeman, Hopkins and Gurley. Yes they will all be heavily owned, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and follow the crowd at certain positions. I love the matchup for Donte Moncrief against New Orleans. On the other side, I’ve rostered Drew Brees who could honestly throw for 400+ yards in this game. To save some cap room, it was necessary to go cheap at DST. I’ve plugged in Washington. While I think they may give up points, I love the matchup against Winston, which could easily lead to a few turnovers.

A very simple, but good start to DFS research is to look at the over/unders and odds. Obviously you want your players in games where Vegas believes the game will be high scoring and on winning teams, while your defenses should come from games they believe will be low scoring.
