Sunday Update:

Ryan Mallet will start for the Ravens. The Steelers D/ST is still a good start.

Ben Watson and Drew Brees will play. This helps all players from this game.

Injury Report:
Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman are not expected to play this week against the Jets, which puts Keshawn Martin and Brandon LaFell as the starting wide receivers. That pushes Rob Gronkowski and James White to the forefront, as the Jets run defense is so stout, the Patriots will most likely rely on the short pass instead of the run game like they did in their first meeting. I expect 10 plus targets for Gronk and White, with a possibility of much more.

Tyler Eifert has been ruled out against Denver for Monday night, which might be for the best all around. The Bengals will have a tough time against a Broncos defense back at home after being whooped by the Steelers last week. I’d rather not play any Bengals this week if I can help it, but A.J. Green and Gio Bernard have the most upside.

Karlos Williams will get the start against Dallas with LeSean McCoy out. Mike Gillislee should have a role as the backup, but I feel good using Williams this week, in a game, which should produce plenty of rushing attempts by the Bills.

Matt Jones won’t play against the Eagles, which is a nice boon for Alf Morris. He’s scary, but at a good DFS price, I think he’s in play, especially in this great matchup.

Odell Beckham Jr. is suspended, which should help Rueben Randle and Will Tye see an uptick in targets. There’s no guarantee they’ll turn those targets into fantasy points, but these are the two I would put my money on.

Brian Hoyer has not yet been cleared of his brain injury, but is traveling with the team. The odds are against him suiting up though and that puts Brandon Weeden in the driver’s seat. I expect DeAndre Hopkins to be able to put up good numbers no matter, but he’s the only receiver I’d trust from the Texans. Alfred Blue could also be worthwhile if he were to see 20 touches again, like last week, but coach Bill O’Brien is as bad as his guru Bill Belichick at giving running backs consistent touches, with a worse offense.

Alshon Jeffery is listed as doubtful, so we’ll see Eddie Royal and Zach Miller as the main receiving targets, while Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford will both see an uptick in looks. If I trust any Bears player this week, it will be Miller. He won’t get much extra attention, but will see extra targets.

Jonathan Stewart is out once again, which should free up touches for Cameron Artis–Payne. CAP will still lose touches to Mike Tolbert and Fozzy Whittaker, but all signs point to him being trusted with more snaps this week and this should again be a nice lead for the Panthers to work with.

Vincent Jackson is out, which boosts Mike Evans up once again. He’s had double-digit targets in every game Jackson has missed and even though he’s not always efficient with those targets, he manages to have a nice fantasy floor.

Christine Michael is set to get the start for Seattle against the Rams, but he is still in a competition with Bryce Brown for touches. If he gets off to a good start, he should be fine to lead the team in touches, but if he doesn’t and Brown rips off a couple nice runs, who knows what will happen. I wouldn’t trust Michael in daily fantasy, but do think he’s worth a flex play if needed.

Doug Baldwin got a full practice in on Friday and even though he is listed as questionable, he’s looking good to go. Since this is a late game, I’d like to have a backup in yearly leagues, but he’s very much worth waiting on. In daily fantasy he isn’t as safe in sites where you can’t switch him out due to the game being in the afternoon.

Andre Ellington will play this week, but all indications are that David Johnson will once again dominate touches. Fire him up as you have been.

Ben Watson and Drew Brees didn’t practice this week and both are listed as questionable. This is tough, because both have great matchups and if they are active, I’d be hard pressed not to start them. But I will be fading both in daily fantasy.

Marques Colston won’t be able to go for the Saints, which, if Watson can’t play either, makes for a bunch of targets for Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead. As long as Brees plays, they both get nice bumps in usage and production.

Spencer Ware is probable and will play against the Browns, but continue to be Charcandrick West’s backup. The number of touches for each is still up in the air, but West should lead the two, while Ware acclimates to game speed. Add in the fact that KC should be able to control this game, I think West gets close to 20 touches and is worth a play in daily fantasy as well as your championship game.

Dez Bryant has been ruled out against the Bills, which gives Jason Witten, Terrance Williams, and Cole Beasley more looks, but they will be coming from Kellen Moore. Darren McFadden is the only Cowboys player I’d be interested in starting this week.

Charles Clay and Robert Woods are out, which should help funnel targets toward Sammy Watkins, who, despite the tough matchup, should be able to put up good numbers.

Byron Maxwell is listed as questionable, which would be a downgrade for the Eagles already weak pass defense. If he can’t go, boost DeSean Jackson up even higher.

The Packers best cornerback, Sam Shields, is out for their road matchup with the Cardinals. That sets up well for the Cardinals passing attack, but even better for Michael Floyd, who would have seen Shields more than his receiving brethren.

Shaun Draughn is out, which will give rise to an unholy 49ers running back by committee.

DraftKings Lineup Configurations

This is the week to pay up for WR and that’s exactly what this lineup does. I’m going with three huge names in Brown, Julio, and Allen Robinson. Brown has a stellar matchup, Robinson has a very good matchup, and Julio has a terrible matchup, but one he’ll be able to avoid by playing in the slot. In order to get the WR I wanted, I went cheap with a QB/WR stack of Bridgewater/Diggs against the wretched Giants pass defense. I don’t normally like playing Thursday guys, but Murray and Woodhead have great matchups (against each other) and are the best values at their price points. I’ll throw a Saturday play in at TE with Ertz who is underpriced considering just how much Bradford likes him. The Lions have the best defensive matchup of the week against the 49ers so they are the play here.

The Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives right now so you know the Big Ben and Antonio Brown are going to bring their best game this week. It doesn’t hurt that the Ravens are terrible on defense. Forte, White, and Riddick all have high floors due to their receiving ability. You want that nice floor in cash games. I also want targets in cash games and Cooks and Landry give you just that. Both have great matchups and should see double digit targets this week. Will Tye should see an increase in targets this week with OBJ suspended for the week. Finally, the Texans provide a safe matchup for your defense without costing you too much of your cap.

We can call this the “they never saw it coming” lineup. We’ve got some really wild upside plays here like Clausen, Aiken, and Riddick. All have phenomenal matchups and they just need to play half decently to make value. I’m going with a double TE approach because I think both have big games this week and they were the best values for their price points. Few people are going to go with a two TE set and, if both go off, then you’ve got yourself a big jump on everyone else. I’m tempering some of my creativity with solid plays like AP, Landry, and Maclin. They should provide a nice base for this team to go along with the HuLo potential of your QB/WR stack. Houston against Mettenberger sounds like a good play to me.

With so many people riding the Blake Bortles train I actually think Ben/Antonio is going to be underowned this week. They have almost as good of a matchup but a much better track record of success and a lot more to play for. Both are going to be worth paying up for. I’ll take some chances at RB with Abdullah (great matchup against the worst run defense in football) and McKinnon (I don’t see AP getting a ton of work in this game). West is a bit of chance as well with Spencer Ware probably active but even with 15 carries he should put up a reasonable game against the Browns. The Steelers give up a ton of passing yards and Aiken is becoming a fairly reliable WR at this point. Cobb is a risk based on his poor play this year but with Mathieu out he should be able to get some run out of the slot. I’m not getting away from Julius Thomas this week. The Saints can’t defend the pass at all and this gives me some exposure to the Jags passing attack. Stacking West/Chiefs D gives me a lot of upside if KC roll over Cleveland, as they are supposed to to.

FantasyAces Lineup Configurations

Thursday GPP

Well, I usually hate playing Thursday players. However, this week there is — surprisingly — a lot to love. Philip Rivers has nothing to lose. He’s going to let it fly against the Raiders. He’s obviously been extremely inconsistent as he has lost offensive weapons left and right this season, so this is strictly a tournament play. Even so, he has the potential for a big game. So, too, does his RB Danny Woodhead. I’ll admit, his 4 TD performance last week had my jaw dropped. Who saw that coming? Not me. Hey, I don’t mind being a week late to the party. Melvin Gordon is now done for the year, leaving the backfield touches to Danny Boy. Oakland is great against RBs, but they are susceptible to pass catching RBs, of which Woodhead is one of the best in the league. With 64 catches, he sits only 5 behind RB leader Theo Riddick.

Bortles will probably have sky high ownership, but I really don’t care as he’s matched up against what is, by far, the worst fantasy defense against QBs. There is no reason to fade him. I’m pairing him with Allen Robinson, who is a fairly reasonable $5,250 here. You’ll see three Steelers on here as well. The matchup could not be better. They could put up 60 if they want, but will probably settle for 35-40. There will be points galore. If you can fit Ben on the roster as well, then please do. This is one of those rare fantasy instances where it is OK to go all in. DeSean has, perhaps, the 2nd best upside of the week behind Antonio Brown. I will be stacking him often this week against the Eagles. Will Tye has been my go to for weeks now and is still under $4K…what gives? The Chiefs round things out. Johnny Football better be praying for warm blankets for Christmas, because he won’t be leaving his bed for a long time after KC puts the beat down upon him this week.

Sunday 50/50

Tyrod actually has a fairly tough matchup against the Cowboys this week, but I’m confident in his ability to his value this week. His running ability is such a boon to his floor. At RB, Bilal Powell has really turned it up a notch the past few weeks. Though he’s a better option on PPR sites, his price is too low on FantasyAces to ignore here. The matchup against New England suits his game better than Ivory’s. Denard Robinson has an excellent matchup against New Orleans’ lack of defense and should be good to go after an early week questionable tag. With Yeldon out, it’s the former Michigan product’s time to shine. I’ve also loaded the FLEX spots with two RBs, DeAngelo Williams and Matt Forte, who is back to being himself.

Antonio Brown is a must in every lineup for me this week. He is the best WR in the league and gets a matchup against one of the worst passing defenses. He could legitimately go for 200 yards again. I love Allen Robinson’s floor this week against the Saints. Jacksonville could put up 50. Will Tye is a near must for me at his low, low price with OBJ out. He’s been one of Eli’s favorite receivers and could be his #1 go to this week.

Sunday GPP 1

OK, I’m going chalk here. At QB I’ve stacked Ben and Bortles. They will be the top two owned QBs this week, but their matchups are just so damn good. If you can fit them in, I have absolutely no reason to persuade you to fade them. None. Go for it. Godspeed. You’ll see some familiar names, especially at RB as their low prices afford me to fit in bigger names elsewhere. One of those higher priced players is Sammy Watkins who, though given a tough matchup, will have every opportunity to come up big for DFS owners once more. He can get behind any defense, which is epitomized by four weeks in a row with a catch of 47 yards or more (and 6 TDs during that span). My goodness. White and Abdullah give a different look at the FLEX spot, but have great upside this week against the Jets and Abdullah, respectively. They are, admittedly, better fitted for full PPR sites, but I still like their upside here in tournaments. The Texans are a high upside play this week against a Tennessee team that is very close to giving up.

Sunday GPP 2

Bortles is here again…Honestly, I am having a very hard time not using him this week against the Saints. Teddy Bridgewater is the other QB. I’m a little iffy on him given that Minnesota has nothing to play for (they are virtually guaranteed a playoff spot with Atlanta sure to lose to Carolina), but these are still professionals and I think pride is something that still fuels young players. I’ve paired him with Diggs this week, who is either going to get you 2 or 20 FP….I don’t see much in between. He’s a tournament option only. Charcandrick West makes an appearance here. With Ware back, I’m reluctant to use him in cash games, but will use him in tournaments all over the place. Against the Browns, we could see his first 100 yard game since his only 100 yard game this season on October 25th. The Steelers should give up some yardage, but their turnover accrual potential is extremely high against the Ravens. Given a defensive score, they could push Seattle and KC for the top DST play of the week.

A very simple, but good start to DFS research is to look at the over/unders and odds. Obviously you want your players in games where Vegas believes the game will be high scoring and on winning teams, while your defenses should come from games they believe will be low scoring.
