Headsupfantasy.com Week 6 Picks October 11, 2013  |  Jeff

Welcome, Fake Footballers! Aside from smashing on opponents each week in our yearly fantasy football leagues, we at The Fake Football also do some dabbling in the fine arts of Daily Fantasy Sports. If you like the rush of fantasy football in one-week portions (with a few pesos on the line), then Daily Fantasy Sports may be your cup of tea as well. This season, we will be pumping out weekly advice for the daily games run by our pals over at Headsupfantasy.com, which is a new platform that offers daily gaming with NO RAKE taken. Need convincing? Take it from the Headsupfantasy folks themselves:

“It is our goal to present our users with the most enjoyable and affordable form of competition possible. Under no circumstances will Headsupfantasy take any percentages from user funds in challenges or pools.  Users can use our organized categories to find the perfect game for them. We have provided the clearest form of scoring for each sport so that all our users can compete on an even scale.”

So, instead of the host site taking a percentage of your hard earned winnings, you simply purchase “tokens”, and use one per contest. Now that you have an idea of how things work, let’s check out the format:

Each week, players have multiple formats to choose from including 2 athlete, 3 athlete, and 6 athlete contests. Within those formats there are further options for fantasy degenerates to enjoy! All scoring is standard fantasy scoring…4 pt passing TDs and no PPR.

2 Athlete: Choose any TWO fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

 * 3 Athlete: Choose any THREE fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

6 Athlete: Choose any SIX fantasy players then compete head-to-head in either:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most combined touchdowns

(6 athlete contests can be either QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE *fixed format* or six of any position)

With so many different contest options, we are going to highlight our favorite three formats and the picks we’re rolling with this Sunday. With the ability to select any fantasy football player, the options are endless, but here are the top plays for week 6:

* 2 Athlete: Most Rushing Yards

– This week we have two backs with prime matchups facing defenses at the bottom of the NFL in rushing defense. First, we have Arian Foster playing the St. Louis Rams, who surrender 126 yards rushing per game. Foster has been well over 100 total yards in each of his last two games and will keep things rolling in Week 6. Next to Foster, we will go with DeMarco Murray. Murray and the Cowboys face the Washington Redskins this week, who give up 142.3 yards rushing per game (second only to the Jacksonville Jaguars in run-stopping deficiency). Murray only accounted for 43 rushing yards last week as Dallas lit up the scoreboard against Denver, but look for the ‘Boys to recommit to the run as they face the Redskins’ weak front. THE PICK: Arian Foster, DeMarco Murray

* 3 Athlete: Most Receiving Yards

– In the 3 Athlete format, we will go with a trio of wide receivers in the ‘Most Receiving Yards’ category. First, Torrey Smith is an easy selection. Smith has been tearing up the league (556 yards in five games) and faces the Green Bay defense that isn’t particularly tough against the pass. Next, we will select Pierre Garcon who faces the Dallas Cowboys this week. Perhaps you noticed the Denver Broncos scoring a few points against the Cowboys last week. Well, Garcon will continue that trend in Week 6 and should be ready to roll coming off a bye. For our third wide receiver, we will go with a favorite and select Dez Bryant. Washington’s defense stinks and Dez should do some damage against this secondary. THE PICK: Torrey Smith, Pierre Garcon, Dez Bryant.

* 6 Athlete: Most Combined Fantasy Points (fixed format)

– As is the norm this season, we have to go with Peyton Manning at quarterback in the 6 Athlete format so we don’t start the contest in a hole. We generally use the same technique for tight end and this week is no different, as we will use Jimmy Graham. With such a distinct #1 option at the position, its hard to go elsewhere. At running back, we will use our two choices from above in Arian Foster and DeMarco Murray. We will hope to gain an edge as some players will likely overlook Murray due to his relative struggles last week. At wide receiver, we will use two of our three choices from the 3 Athlete contest and select Torrey Smith and Dez Bryant who both have nice matchups and have been stone-cold studs this season. THE PICK: Peyton Manning, Arian Foster, DeMarco Murray, Torrey Smith, Dez Bryant, Jimmy Graham

Good luck in Week 6, and be sure to check out Headsupfantasy!
