Headsupfantasy.com Week 4 Picks September 27, 2013  |  Jeff

Welcome, Fake Footballers! Aside from smashing on opponents each week in our yearly fantasy football leagues, we at The Fake Football also do some dabbling in the fine arts of Daily Fantasy Sports. If you like the rush of fantasy football in one-week portions (with a few pesos on the line), then Daily Fantasy Sports may be your cup of tea as well. This season, we will be pumping out weekly advice for the daily games run by our pals over at Headsupfantasy.com, which is a new platform that offers daily gaming with NO RAKE taken. Need convincing? Take it from the Headsupfantasy folks themselves:

“It is our goal to present our users with the most enjoyable and affordable form of competition possible. Under no circumstances will Headsupfantasy take any percentages from user funds in challenges or pools.  Users can use our organized categories to find the perfect game for them. We have provided the clearest form of scoring for each sport so that all our users can compete on an even scale.”

So, instead of the host site taking a percentage of your hard earned winnings, you simply purchase “tokens”, and use one per contest. Now that you have an idea of how things work, let’s check out the format:

Each week, players have multiple formats to choose from including 2 athlete, 3 athlete, and 6 athlete contests. Within those formats there are further options for fantasy degenerates to enjoy! All scoring is standard fantasy scoring…4 pt passing TDs and no PPR.

* 2 Athlete: Choose any TWO fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

 * 3 Athlete: Choose any THREE fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

6 Athlete: Choose any SIX fantasy players then compete head-to-head in either:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most combined touchdowns

(6 athlete contests can be either QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE *fixed format* or six of any position)

With so many different contest options, we are going to highlight our favorite three formats and the picks we’re rolling with this Sunday. With the ability to select any fantasy football player, the options are endless, but here are the top plays for week 4:

* 2 Athlete: Most Passing Yards

– We’re going with ‘Most Passing Yards’ again this week in the 2 Athlete category and we have two quarterbacks with great matchups to use in Week 4. The obvious choice here in Peyton Manning. Manning has been incredible this season and faces Philadelphia on Sunday, who has given up 323 passing yards per game through three weeks. Expect another big game from Manning. While your opponent will likely use Peyton as well, the secondary pick here is the most important. For our second quarterback, we’re locking in Tony Romo. Dallas plays San Diego this week and the Chargers are dead last in defending the pass so far in 2013, allowing a ridiculous 340.7 passing yards per game. Don’t worry about Romo missing Miles Austin, as Dez Bryant and Jason Witten will do more than enough damage to the Bolts on Sunday. THE PICK: Peyton Manning and Tony Romo

* 3 Athlete: Most Receiving Yards

– ‘Most Receiving Yards’ is the option we’re going with again this week in the 3 Athlete format and we will be feasting on three gravy matchups. Leading the charge will be Dez Bryant. As we noted above, San Diego has struggled defending the pass in 2013 and with Miles Austin likely out, Dez will see even more targets in Week 4. Next to Dez, we will line up Demaryius Thomas. Thomas has been fantastic so far this season and faces the Philadelphia Eagles unit this week who prefers to play flag football style defense. Our two moose (mooses? meese?) Dez and Demaryius should do some serious damage. Rounding out our trio is Ravens receiver Torrey Smith. Keeping in line with our other picks, Smith has a great matchup against the paltry Buffalo defense and hasn’t had less than 85 yards receiving in a game yet this season. THE PICK: Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Torrey Smith

* 6 Athlete: Most Combined Fantasy Points (fixed format)

– Now for the big boy, the 6 Athlete format. Let’s just start things off and declare Jimbo Graham our tight end. It is a near certainty that our opponent will use Graham and picking another tight end would put us at a severe disadvantage, so we are avoiding overthinking this one. At quarterback, we will use a pick we covered above in Peyton Manning. Another vanilla pick here, so we will look to grab our edge in the RB and WR slots. At wide receiver, we are going with Dez Bryant and Torry Smith. Dez will likely be heavily used, but going with Smith over other more likely options should make our lineup a bit different and hand us a nice advantage. Rounding out the squad, we will go with Trent Richardson and Jamaal Charles. Richardson is now the lone back for Indy as Ahmad Bradshaw sits out against the putrid Jacksonville defense and Jamaal Charles is…..Jamaal Charles. THE PICK: Peyton Manning, Trent Richardson, Jamaal Charles, Dez Bryant, Torrey Smith, Jimmy Graham.

Good luck in Week 4, and be sure to check out Headsupfantasy!
