Headsupfantasy.com Week 12 Picks November 22, 2013  |  Jeff

Welcome, Fake Footballers! Aside from smashing on opponents each week in our yearly fantasy football leagues, we at The Fake Football also do some dabbling in the fine arts of Daily Fantasy Sports. If you like the rush of fantasy football in one-week portions (with a few pesos on the line), then Daily Fantasy Sports may be your cup of tea as well. This season, we will be pumping out weekly advice for the daily games run by our pals over at Headsupfantasy.com, which is a new platform that offers daily gaming with NO RAKE taken. Need convincing? Take it from the Headsupfantasy folks themselves:

“It is our goal to present our users with the most enjoyable and affordable form of competition possible. Under no circumstances will Headsupfantasy take any percentages from user funds in challenges or pools.  Users can use our organized categories to find the perfect game for them. We have provided the clearest form of scoring for each sport so that all our users can compete on an even scale.”

So, instead of the host site taking a percentage of your hard earned winnings, you simply purchase “tokens”, and use one per contest. Now that you have an idea of how things work, let’s check out the format:

Each week, players have multiple formats to choose from including 2 athlete, 3 athlete, and 6 athlete contests. Within those formats there are further options for fantasy degenerates to enjoy! All scoring is standard fantasy scoring…4 pt passing TDs and no PPR.

2 Athlete: Choose any TWO fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

 * 3 Athlete: Choose any THREE fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

6 Athlete: Choose any SIX fantasy players then compete head-to-head in either:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most combined touchdowns

(6 athlete contests can be either QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE *fixed format* or six of any position)

With so many different contest options, we are going to highlight our favorite three formats and the picks we’re rolling with this Sunday. With the ability to select any fantasy football player, the options are endless, but here are the top plays for Week 12:

* 2 Athlete: Most Rushing Yards

– This week we are going with two bruisers at running back in the ‘Most Rushing Yards’ category of the 2 Athlete format. First, we will use Zac Stacy, who should be fresh coming off St. Louis’ bye week. Stacy and the Rams host the Chicago Bears, who have given up the 2nd most yards to opposing running backs in 2013. They even got roasted by Ray Rice last week, which should be enough evidence alone. Next to Stacy, we will roll out Frank Gore, who gets the poor Washington Redskins defense in Week 12. San Francisco should be able to move the ball with ease against the ‘Skins, allowing Frank Gore to operate in vintage fashion. THE PICK: Zac Stacy and Frank Gore

* 3 Athlete: Most Receiving Yards

– In the ‘3 Athlete’ category this week, we will use three players to rack up the most receiving yards possible. No matter the matchup, with no salary cap involvement, Calvin Johnson is an absolute staple in our lineup. Would you want to play against him without starting him yourself? Didn’t think so. Next up is Victor Cruz, who gets the very beatable Dallas secondary this Sunday. Eli had a solid outing against Dallas earlier this season and is a good bet to do so again. Last, we will dip into the world of tight ends and snag Rob Gronkowski. Gronk is in store for a huge week and should pile up a healthy stack of receiving yards along the way. The Denver defense is nothing fancy and New England will likely light up the scoreboard as they keep pace with Peyton Manning. THE PICK: Calvin Johnson, Victor Cruz, and Rob Gronkowski

* 6 Athlete: Most Combined Fantasy Points (fixed format)

– The ‘6 Athlete’ format for Week 12 will be a culmination of the players we used above in other contests, with a couple slight variations. At quarterback, we will use Peyton Manning, as he will likely be used by any opponent that plays in this format. At running back, we will use the aforementioned Zac Stacy and pair him with Matt Forte. Forte has a nice matchup against Stacy’s Rams so we will hope for a high scoring ballgame in St. Louis. At wide receiver, Megatron and Cruz get the nod to go along with Gronk at tight end. This star-studded lineup should be tough to beat this week. PICK: Peyton Manning, Matt Forte, Zac Stacy, Calvin Johnson, Victor Cruz, Rob Gronkowski

Good luck in Week 12, and be sure to check out Headsupfantasy!
