Welcome, Fake Footballers! Aside from smashing on opponents each week in our yearly fantasy football leagues, we at The Fake Football also do some dabbling in the fine arts of Daily Fantasy Sports. If you like the rush of fantasy football in one-week portions (with a few pesos on the line), then Daily Fantasy Sports may be your cup of tea as well. This season, we will be pumping out weekly advice for the daily games run by our pals over at Headsupfantasy.com, which is a new platform that offers daily gaming with NO RAKE taken. Need convincing? Take it from the Headsupfantasy folks themselves:

“It is our goal to present our users with the most enjoyable and affordable form of competition possible. Under no circumstances will Headsupfantasy take any percentages from user funds in challenges or pools.  Users can use our organized categories to find the perfect game for them. We have provided the clearest form of scoring for each sport so that all our users can compete on an even scale.”

So, instead of the host site taking a percentage of your hard earned winnings, you simply purchase “tokens”, and use one per contest. Now that you have an idea of how things work, let’s check out the format:

Each week, players have multiple formats to choose from including 2 athlete, 3 athlete, and 6 athlete contests. Within those formats there are further options for fantasy degenerates to enjoy! All scoring is standard fantasy scoring…4 pt passing TDs and no PPR.

 

2 Athlete: Choose any TWO fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

 * 3 Athlete: Choose any THREE fantasy players then compete head-to-head in any one of five categories:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most touchdowns  * Most passing yards

* Most rushing Yards  * Most receiving yards

6 Athlete: Choose any SIX fantasy players then compete head-to-head in either:

* Most combined fantasy points  * Most combined touchdowns

(6 athlete contests can be either QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE *fixed format* or six of any position)

 

WEEK 10 PICKS

With so many different contest options, we are going to highlight our favorite three formats and the picks we’re rolling with this Sunday. With the ability to select any fantasy football player, the options are endless, but here are the top plays for week 10:

 

* 2 Athlete: Most Rushing Yards

– This week, we will go with two solid running backs in the ‘2 Athlete’ category of most rushing yards. We will start with Reggie Bush, as the Lions take on the Chicago Bears this week. Back in Week 4, Bush dropped 139 rushing yards on the Bears and should be fresh and ready to roll after Detroit’s bye week. Next to Bush, we will use Eddie Lacy. The rookie has averaged 109 rushing yards per game over Green Bay’s last five contests and is showing no sign of slowing down. With Aaron Rodgers out, the Packers will likely lean on the run even more, making Lacy a great play this week. THE PICK: Reggie Bush and Eddie Lacy

 

* 3 Athlete: Most Receiving Yards

– In the ‘3 Athlete’ category this week, we will use three wide receivers to rack up the most receiving yards possible. First, we will take two big time studs in Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant. With any player at our disposal, having two beasts in your corner is a good idea. Now that we have a solid foundation, we will go with a lesser used wide receiver to gain our advantage. This week, Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers get the Buffalo Bills at home. Buffalo is giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers through Week 9, so Pittsburgh’s number one option should have himself a nice day. THE PICK: Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, and Antonio Brown

 

* 6 Athlete: Most Combined Fantasy Points (fixed format)

– We will break out all the stops for the big boy: The ‘6 Athlete’ format. At quarterback, we are going to avoid Peyton Manning, which feels slightly uncomfortable, but Drew Brees is in store for a huge week against Dallas. At running back, we will use our two backs from the ‘2 Athlete’ format in Reggie Bush and Eddie Lacy. At wide receiver, we will go with Calvin Johnson and Antonio Brown, who we covered above. Johnson’s stud status and Brown’s tremendous matchup should be a solid combination this week. At tight end, Jimmy Graham is the top bet, especially with Rob Gronkowski on bye. Fire up this lineup and get ready to roll. PICK: Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Eddie Lacy, Calvin Johnson, Antonio Brown, Jimmy Graham.
