Injury Rundown: NFL Week 2

posted by ChrisDCo

Attention: All FakeFootballers!

It’s that time of the week again! I’ll be updating this column regularly to give everyone an idea of sits and starts, fill-ins and pretty much everything injury related! Below is the list of each team’s injury lists.

For more updates please follow me on twitter @chrisdco.

I’ll be going in-depth with players that have more relevance after each team. Defensive players are on here too, so read up. Take it from me, it helps more than anything and it’s something that most people overlook.

Arizona Cardinals
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

John Skelton

QB

Ankle Doubtful
Max Hall

QB

Shoulder Probable
Beanie Wells

RB

Hamstring Probable
Ryan Williams

RB

Knee Probable
Jeff King

TE

Knee Probable
Jay Freely

PK

Back Probable
O’Brien Schofield

LB

Knee Probable
Kerry Rhodes

S

Foot Probable
Greg Toler

CB

Hip Questionable
Jamell Fleming

CB

Shoulder Probable
Patrick Peterson

CB

Groin Questionable
Adrian Wilson

S

Ankle Questionable
Rashad Johnson

S

Groin Questionable
  • Skelton is out, and Kolb is in, the only thing to take out of this really is that Larry Fitzgerald still doesn’t have a half-decent QB.
  • Beanie Wells would be a sit for me even if Ryan Williams was a no-show, the Cards are playing whoever plays less-ugly-er.
  • As you can see the Cards’ secondary is way too banged up. There’s absolutely no way they’re stopping the Pats come Sunday especially if they go without their second best player, in my opinion, in Patrick Peterson.

Atlanta Falcons
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Roddy White

WR

Groin Questionable
Corey Peters

DB

Foot Out
Sean Weatherspoon

LB

Hamstring Questionable
  • Reports say that Roddy White is listed as questionable but went through a full practice on Saturday and is expected to suit up against the Broncos for their home opener.

Baltimore Ravens
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

David Reed

WR

Knee Out
Paul Kruger

DE

Back Questionable
Pernell McPhee

DE

Knee Questionable
Terrell Suggs

LB

Achilles Out
Ed Reed

S

Hamstring Questionable
  • Ed Reed says that his injury is very minor but it’s going to be a huge setback for the Baltimore D if he’s sitting out some games, it’s not enough that Suggs is out till November. If Reed is out, the Eagles might have a chance in week 2.

Buffalo Bills
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Fred Jackson

RB

Knee Out
  • Fred Jackson out, CJ Spiller in. Spiller looked amazing, and in my opinion should be started in all formats for next week. He’ll carry and catch balls left, right and center.

Carolina Panthers
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Jonathan Stewart

RB

Ankle Questionable
David Gettis

WR

Hamstring Out
Steve Smith

WR

Knee Questionable
Greg Hardy

DE

Illness Questionable
Kenny Onatolu

LB

Undisclosed Probable
  • There are a lot of questions surrounding the Panthers’ running game after their week 1 loss to the Bucs, they rushed for a grand total of 1 yard and I’m not so sure how much a banged up Stewart would make a difference. I’d lay off for now.
  • The Panthers listed Smith as questionable after a limited practice on Friday but Coach Rivers expects him to be a full go.

Chicago Bears
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Johnny Knox

WR

Back Out
Kyle Adams

TE

Shoulder Questionable
Brian Urlacher

LB

Knee Probable
Charles Tillman

CB

Leg Questionable
  • I couldn’t see how Urlacher would miss this game, especially because it’s against the Packers, he sat out the second half of week 1 only as a precautionary measure.
  • Lovie Smith is very optimistic that his starting CB, Charles Tillman is good to go as well. No good news here Packers fans.

Cincinnati Bengals
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Bernard Scott

RB

Hand Questionable
Donald Lee

TE

Thigh Questionable
Pat Sims

DT

Hamstring Out
Carlos Dunlap

DE

Knee Questionable
Jason Allen

CB

Quadriceps Questionable
Dre Kirkpatrick

CB

Knee Questionable
Adam Jones

CB

Illness Probable
George Iloka

S

Ankle Questionable
  • Green-Ellis played a decent game and looks like he’s ready to take a bigger role in an offense, there’s no need for Bernard Scott.

Cleveland Browns
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Trent Richardson

RB

Knee Probable
Chris Ogbonnaya

RB

Ankle Questionable
Josh Cribbs

WR

Knee Probable
Josh Gordon

WR

Knee Probable
Jordan Cameron

TE

Groin Probable
Ben Watson

TE

Thigh Questionable
Phil Taylor

DT

Chest Out
James-Michael Johnson

LB

Ribs Questionable
Scott Fujita

LB

Knee Probable
Raymond Ventrone

S

Hand Out
Sheldon Brown

CB

Neck Probable
  • Trent Richardson will keep on playing, and I’m expecting a breakout game soon depending on how good his knee feels.
  • One more thing to note is that Joe Haden is suspended 4 games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. That leaves the Browns without their top CB.

Dallas Cowboys
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Felix Jones

RB

Ribs Questionable
Demarco Murray

RB

Wrist Probable
Miles Austin

WR

Hamstring Probable
Andre Holmes

WR

Knee Probable
Jason Witten

TE

Spleen Probable
Jay Ratliff

DT

Ankle Out
DeMarcus Ware

LB

Hamstring Probable
Kyle Wilber

LB

Thumb Questionable
Mike Jenkins

CB

Shoulder Probable
Danny McCray

S

Neck Probably
Gerald Sensabaugh

S

Concussion Questionable
Matt Johnson

S

Hamstring Questionable
  • Yes, Jason Witten played in week 1 to everyone’s surprise, and we all saw how little he was involved in the offense. I’d say he’d be a a TE2 play for week 2, and I’d find other options.
  • Barring any set backs, both Demarco Murray and Miles Austin are good to go, they turned in full practices all week.
  • DeMarcus Ware is listed in the Cowboys’ injury report without any reports as to why he’s injured, I’m assuming he’s a green light or there might be no stopping Lynch on Sunday.

Denver Broncos
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Demaryius Thomas

WR

Shoulder Probable
Chris Harris

CB

Ankle Questionable
  • Thomas’ status was never in doubt, he turned in a full practice on Saturday and is expected to play against the Falcons on Monday night.
Detroit Lions
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Jerome Harrison

RB

Head Out
Jahvid Best

RB

Concussion Out
Calvin Johnson

WR

Foot Probable
Corey Williams

DT

Knee Questionable
Lawrence Jackson

DE

Calf Questionable
Travis Lewis

LB

Quadriceps Doubtful
Chris Greenwood

CB

Abdomen Out
Dwight Bently

CB

Concussion Out
Chris Houston

CB

Ankle Questionable
Louis Delmas

S

Knee Questionable
  • There’s really no story here, Best is still out and LeShoure is still suspended. Let’s go Kevin Smith!
  • Calvin Johnson was also listed here last week and everyone was worried when he sat out Wednesday’s practice. He turned in a couple of full ones after and is expected to play at San Francisco.

Green Bay Packers
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

James Starks

RB

Toe Questionable
Greg Jennings

WR

Groin Questionable
Jarrett Boykin

WR

Undisclosed Out
Andrew Quarless

TE

Knee Out
C.J. Wilson

DE

Groin Out
Frank Zombo

LB

Shoulder Out
Terrel Manning

LB

Undisclosed Out
Jamari Lattimore

LB

Ankle Probable
Davon House

CB

Shoulder Out
Sean Richardson

S

Hamstring Out
  • James Starks is long gone, even if he comes back from the toe injury, I can’t see him taking Cedric Benson’s place in the coming weeks.

Houston Texans
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Arian Foster

RB

Illness Probable
Antonio Smith

DE

Ankle Probable
J.J. Watt

DE

Elbow Probable
Shaun Cody

DT

Back Probable
Darryl Sharpton

LB

Hip Out
Tim Dobbins

LB

Neck Questionable
Brian Cushing

LB

Ribs Probable
Brooks Reed

LB

Hip Probable
Bryan Braman

LB

Hamstring Questionable
Johnathan Joseph

CB

Illness Probable
Brice McCain

CB

Foot Probable
  • I would honestly ignore a lot of probable’s on this list, this include Foster, Watt and Joseph. All of them should be suiting up against the Jaguars.
Indianapolis Colts
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Austin Collie

WR

Concussion Questionable
Ty Hilton

WR

Shoulder Questionable
Josh Chapman

DT

Knee Out
Dwight Freeney

DE

Ankle Out
Pat Angerer

LB

Foot Out
  • We never got the confirmation for Collie and it’s still a wait and see. Owners should be cautious in starting.
  • A big blow to the Colts is losing DE Dwight Freeney, he will be out which makes their pass rush close to zero.

JacksonvilleJaguars
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Rashad Jennings

RB

Knee Out
John Chick

DE

Knee Out
George Selvie

DE

Knee Questionable
Austen Lane

DE

Knee Questionable
Clint Session

LB

Head Out
Daryl Smith

LB

Groin Out
Derek Cox

CB

Hamstring Questionable
  • Good news for MJD owners. He’ll get a full workload with Jennings sitting out.
  • Derek Cox and Daryl Smith are two of the Jags’ best defensive players, it would hurt them a lot if Cox doesn’t suit up against the Texans this week.

Kansas City Chiefs
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Devon Wylie

WR

Hamstring Out
Anthony Toribio

DT

Ankle Out
Allen Bailey

DE

Ankle Out
BrandonFlowers

CB

Foot Questionable
Jalil Brown

CB

Groin Questionable
Kendrick Lewis

S

Shoulder Questionable
  • Flowers deems himself ready for week 2 against the Bills. He put in a few full practices this week and the Chiefs would be stoked to have him back as well as their Pro Bowl pass rusher Tamba Hali.

Miami Dolphins
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Daniel Thomas

RB

Concussion Out
Anthony Armstrong

WR

Hamstring Doubtful
Tony McDaniel

DT

Knee Out
Randy Starks

DT

Groin Probable
  • Two words, Reggie Bush. No one else should touch that football, not because Bush is a God, but because the rest of their offense is horrendous.

Minnesota Vikings
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Adrian Peterson

RB

Knee Probable
Jarius Wright

WR

Ankle Questionable
Rhett Ellison

TE

Ankle Probable
Marvin Mitchell

LB

Ankle Questionable
Chris Cook

CB

Biceps Probable
Josh Robinson

CB

Hip Probable
  • The Vikings are just being cautious here, AP said he felt great after week 1, expect him to be a go in week 2.

New England Patriots
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Tony Fiammetta

RB

Personal Out
Shane Vereen

RB

Foot Questionable
Jake Ballard

TE

Knee Out
Daniel Fells

TE

Lower Leg Questionable
Myron Pryor

DT

Pectoral Out
Alfonzo Dennard

CB

Hamstring Questionable
Sterling Moore

CB

Knee Questionable
Patrick Chung

S

  • Tom Brady will probably do plastic surgery and will be out. Or not.

New Orleans Saints
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Devery Henderson

WR

Head Questionable
Turk McBride

DE

Ankle Out
Jonathan Vilma

LB

Knee Out
Scott Shanle

LB

Knee Questionable
Jabari Greer

CB

Groin Questionable
Johnny Patrick

CB

Leg Questionable
  • The Saints were ready to play without Vilma, and they’re fine with that but Greer was a late scratch in week 1, and would hurt them a lot if they don’t get their best CB in for week 2, and the fact that Johnny Patrick left their week 1 game as well. The Panthers, no matter how ugly that first game was, might have a field day passing the football.

New York Giants
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Da’Rel Scott

RB

Knee Questionable
Victor Cruz

WR

Personal Probable
Hakeem Nicks

WR

Foot Probable

DE

Hamstring Out
Marvin Austin

DT

Back Questionable
Keith Rivers

LB

Hamstring Doubtful
Michael Coe

CB

Hamstring Questionable
Prince Amukamara

CB

Ankle Questionable
  • Nicks played 53 of 57 snaps in week 1 and admitted that he was not in mid-season condition just yet, Nicks will play, his production is a little shaky for a WR1 though.
  • Not so certain why Cruz is listed under the Giants’ IR but everything sounds like he’s ready to bounce back after a poor week 1 performance.

New York Jets
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

John Conner

RB

Knee Questionable
Chaz Schilens

WR

Ankle Probable
Jeremy Kerley

LB

Shoulder Probable
Eric Smith

S

Knee Questionable
LaRon Landry

S

Heel Probable
Darrelle Revis

CB

Concussion Out
  • Revis is out, and Cromartie is probably suiting up. One way or another the Steelers will keep at this. It’ll be hard to stop both Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown at the same time.

Oakland Raiders
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Taiwan Jones

RB

Jacoby Ford

WR

Foot Out
DenariusMoore

WR

LB

Knee Out

  • Ford will be out for the season and the Raiders are very hopeful thatMoorecan suit up against the Dolphins in week 2, they are in desperate need of help in their offense.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jeremy Maclin

Mike Patterson

DT

Head Out
Kurt Coleman

S

Face Probable
ColtAnderson

S

Knee Probable
Curtis Marsh

CB

Hamstring Questionable
  • Both DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are banged up but reports say they’re ready to play. Whether or not they give it a full go remains a question. I’d think long and hard before starting both receivers against the Baltimore defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Rashad Mendenhall

RB

Knee Doubtful
Jonathan Dwyer

RB

Foot Probable
James Harrison

LB

Knee Doubtful
Stevenson Sylvester

LB

Knee Questionable
Troy Polamalu

S

Calf Questionable
  • The Steelers are going to say that Mendenhall is week-to-week and until he comes back and shows a little form, I would sit him til. Redman and Dwyer should continue to pick up the slack, some way, some how.
  • Reports say Harrison and Polamalu are sitting this one out. Good news for the Steelers is they’ll have safety Ryan Clark back, who was unable to play atDenverin week 1. An ugly game for both teams without their top defensive players is about to happen.

San Diego Chargers
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Ryan Matthews

RB

Shoulder Questionable
Richard Goodman

WR

Concussion Questionable
Antonio Gates

TE

Ribs Probable
Antonio Garay

DT

Ankle Out
Quentin Jammer

CB

Thumb Questionable
Shareece Wright

CB

Foot Questionable
  • Everyone wants to believe that Matthews will stick to the plan and play in week 2 but I find it hard to swallow. He’s going to come back soon but his status is very much in doubt against the Titans this week.
  • Gates came back to play against the Raiders on Monday Night Football after sustaining a rib injury so it doesn’t seem to be serious. He didn’t look so good in that game as though. The Titans on the other hand, give a lot of points to TE’s so Gates should be a TE1 come Sunday, despite the ugly showing.

San Francisco 49ers
PLAYER

Greg Scruggs

DE

Hamstring Questionable
Walter Thurmond

CB

Leg Out
Byron Maxwell

CB

Shoulder Probable
  • Barring another setback, Lynch should be good to go against the Cowboys in week 2. He rushed for a full workload in week 1 and that’s more than enough reason to believe he’s close to 100%.
  • We had the same reports for Sidney Rice in week 1, although not fully healthy, which I doubt he’ll ever be, he’ll suit up and play.

St. Louis Rams
PLAYER

Knee Out
Zach Diles

LB

Hamstring Questionable
Colin McCarthy

LB

Ankle Questionable
Markelle Martin

S

Knee Out
  • My man Locker is on track to start against the Chargers come Sunday, coach says as long as he can play through the soreness he’s a go.
  • Kenny Britt says he’s knees are fine and is expected to play Sunday, he will though, would have a limited snap count so we’d want to wait and see how he turns out before putting him in any of our line ups.
  • Washingtonsuffered a leg contusion against the Patriots and should be good to go in week 2.

Washington Redskins
PLAYER

POS

INJURY

STATUS

Pierre Garcon

WR

Foot Questionable
Brandon Meriweather

S

Knee Out
  • We’d all love to see Garcon back on the field come Sunday and he says he’s fine and is extremely confident he’ll play. I’d say unless reports say otherwise, I’d start him.
